Simply Pet Professionals was established in 2018 by Nicki Bell and Emma Dignam. They both work closely with animals in their professions and are passionate about sharing their experiences with others to help improve pet care. Both pet owners themselves, they understand the amazing bond we have with our pets.
Their first aid courses are based in southeast London, Kent and Essex. They are happy to travel further to run other courses.
Nicki is a veterinary surgeon of over 15 years experience in general practice and out of hours emergency work. She has worked with two animal charities in Romania and Greece neutering and treating cats and dogs. Nicki is also a Veterinary Advisor for a registered charity supporting retired police dogs. She has a 9 year old Labrador and two elderly cats as well as two young children. In her work she has first hand experience of emergencies. She has also seen cases where animals have received first aid prior to being treated at the vets so has seen the positive impact this can have on the outcome of some cases. She is keen to improve pet owners' knowledge and skills to help them deal with emergency situations.
Emma is a professional dog handler with 8 years experience in training and working licensed dogs. She is also a qualified expert in the field of dangerous dogs. Emma has a young family at home, as well as her three German Shepherds. Emma has founded a charity for retired police dogs which assists with their ongoing care and welfare needs . Emma feels strongly that pet owners and anyone working with animals should equip themselves with the skills of animal first aid. This qualification has saved one of her own dogs further to being able to recognise bloat at its initial stages and ensuring life saving treatment was given.
